Monologue Performance & Analysis

Build audition-ready monologues with clarity, confidence, and emotional truth. In this four-week course, students will learn how to select, analyze, rehearse, and perform both classical and contemporary theatrical monologues. Through guided coaching and practical exercises, you’ll strengthen character development, deepen text analysis, and refine vocal and physical technique—so your monologues feel grounded, specific, and fully alive.
What You’ll Work On
Choosing strong monologues for auditions and performance
Classical vs. contemporary pieces, type/age/casting considerations, and selecting contrasting material
Breaking down text: given circumstances, objectives, stakes, beats, and tactics
Character development, voice and diction, physicality, blocking, and stage presence
Performing with authenticity, clarity, and confidence
Professional audition etiquette and presentation
By the End of the Course, You Will Be Able To
Select appropriate monologues for auditions and performance
Analyze dramatic text for character, objective, and stakes
Apply vocal and physical tools to strengthen your work
Perform monologues with confidence and emotional specificity
Demonstrate professional audition etiquette

About the Instructor: Bukola Ogunmola
Bukola Ogunmola is a Nigerian-American actor, producer, and educator born, raised, and educated in South Jamaica, Queens, New York. Acting credits include Celia in As You Like It and Viola in Twelfth Night (Independent Shakespeare Company), Isabel/Dionna in Measure Still for Measure (Boston Court Pasadena), Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (Better Than Dreams Productions), and Yinka in Bob Hearts Abishola (CBS). Bukola holds an MFA from USC.
